The post office finally came through!
And the most tasteful envelope was waiting for me when I opened the PO box (god look at those cheeky pastry critters! :3).
Even though the post had taken so very long, there was so much Valentine cheer I immediately dropped my smear campaign against the USPS.
There is so much in that tiny envelope, but I am only willing to share a little of it. I’m hoarding the rest and there is...

GWotD: fear
Let’s talk about fear Super Briefly. Germans aren’t afraid of things so much as they have a fear of things
Angst haben - to be afraid
If you want to say you are afraid you would say “ich habe Angst.”
If you were afraid of spiders and needed to tell someone you would say to them “ich habe Angst vor Spinnen!”
More things to be afraid of later!
And here's the cover of Worlds' Finest #1

Looks like Power Girl loses her boob window or it is hiding under her red scarf.
And on Earth 2 it looks like Power Girl is Supergirl and Huntress is …. Robin??????
All obvious costume talk and general “what are they doing here”, if this Helena is a Robin—
I really dig that idea.
Ohh so this is what Skip was talking about. I can feel the internet...

GWotD more kissy words
Because Valentine’s day is right around the corner and I inexplicably have kissing on the mind (ever so inexplicable!), here are some more German words for kissing/kisses
Busseln - to kiss
Der Schmatzer - the smacker (a big wet one maybe!)
Knutschen - to smooch
Küsschen - to peck (literally little kisses)
And lastly just for fun
Mund zu Mund - mouth to mouth

GWotD: all the shits
Today’s word of the day is poo related. My German college professor told me a few years ago about Roll’s Royce putting out a car called the Silver Mist. He told me, giggling like a very amused child, that the car didn’t sell very well in Germany as “Mist” means “shit” over there.
(Der) Mist - shit, trash, manure.
If I remember any other good poo words...

More GWotD
I remembered a good one as soon as I got back from break that relates to food! But it requires a tiny bit of grammar explanation so without further ado
Der Bärenhunger
Firstly, if you are hungry, in German you say “ich habe Hunger” (I have hunger), but if you are really really hungry you would say “ich habe einen Bärenhunger!” (i have a bear-like hunger!)

German word of the day: I'm hungry edition
Die Mahlzeit - literally “meal time”. “Mahlzeit!” is often used as a midday greeting regardless of the presence of food

German word of the day 3(? I don't remember how...
There are a couple today because I get them confused sometimes.

Küssen: to kiss
